Palm Beach County Traffic Deaths Decrease Significantly

According to a report issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the Florida Department of Transportation, traffic fatalities in Palm Beach County dropped from 198 in 2008 to 151 in 2009.

Police are attributing the decrease to increased enforcement efforts and educational safety talks.

The decline in deaths is being seen not only in Palm Beach County, but throughout the entire state of Florida. The study also noted that Florida teen car crash deaths and Florida motorcycle crash deaths have seen a steep decline.

Motorcycle deaths, which have been rising steadily since 1996, declined statewide by 24 percent in 2009. It is believed that the decline may be attributed to a 2008 law, which requires a training course for anyone wishing to obtain a motorcycle license.
